We combine data mining approaches and multichannel (broadband) spectroscopic reaction monitoring to investigate photo-induced processes in organized media and characterize complex media. Strategic variation of measurement conditions as reactions proceed in complex, microheterogeneous media enables isolation of kinetic profiles of reaction-pathway-specific components from multichannel spectral data.

Oxygen photosensitization are critical processes by which reactive oxygen species (ROS) are formed in a number of natural, and anthropogenic processes. Photosensitization reactions are often organized in a simplified scheme dominated by electron or energy transfer pathways. Our current work focuses on characterization of sensitization and degradation in sensitizers that produce ROS by competing pathways.
